iPhone Duo
Tl;dr, the magic of the new iPhone Duo is undone by Apple’s focus on uninteresting uses for its products.
The iPhone Duo is beautiful (especially those simplified lock screens, ooo), but I feel like in making it, Apple asked itself over and over: How can I simultaneously watch TV and text better? How can I take a selfie easier? How can I view even more of the negative space on this minimalist website/slide/poster?
I know users want these features, but is this all Apple should aspire to? Is this the core of why foldable should exist? I can’t make up my mind.
Part of me thinks this version of foldables doesn’t change anything. It follows the existing social media driven logic of technology interaction, watch more, move faster, fill the screen, which will continue to crescendo, until it can’t anymore. Whatever that looks like.
